Because the Chester Rows are unique and their precise origins are unknown, they have been the subject of speculation. Chester has suffered from a series of fires. In 1278 the fire was so severe that almost the entire town within the walls was destroyed.
Fast forward 746 years, we have installed a vast number of aspirating smoke detection systems in the Cathedral City, which will go a long way in protecting the World-famous historic buildings.
We have covered the Rows with a wireless fire detection topology radio web, incorporating a number of advanced technology fire alarm control panels.
This layer of fire detection communication is the backbone for the early warning systems, aspirating smoke detection, installed outside, protecting the historic fabric of the buildings.
False Alarm Management (Alarm Verification) plays a massive role in this installation, within both the control panels and the aspirating detection themselves.
Having worked for Cheshire West and Chester Council and in collaboration with Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service (CF&RS), the aspirating smoke detection provides early fire warning to the City's CCTV Control Centre.
The team within the Control Centre will monitor the fire zone that activates a fire detection signal and if smoke is witnessed on the cameras, a 999 call to CF&RS will commence.
We have worked closely with CF&RS to collaborate a speedily response to the Rows, ensuring no wasteful Unwanted Alarm calls are attended.

Chester Cathedral is a Church of England cathedral, located in the city of Chester. It is a Grade I listed building, with construction dates from between the 10th century and the early 16th century. Having been modified a number of times throughout history, it is a typical characteristic of English cathedrals.
Fast forward 930 years, we have installed a state of the art fire detection & alarm system, along with a large number of aspirating smoke detectors throughout the building, which will go a long way in protecting this magnificent cathedral for generations to come.
We have covered the building with a self-healing mesh technology wireless fire detection topology radio web, incorporating an advanced technology
fire alarm control panel.
This layer of fire detection communication is state of the art, as the detection & alarms are self-healing, always monitoring and creating a direct link back to the fire alarm control panel, re-routing if necessary, via the mesh system.
Advanced technology aspirating smoke detection throughout the high level areas, specially programmed with False Alarm Management (Alarm Verification)
plays a massive role in this installation,
providing critical early warning.
Working for Cheshire Cathedral and in collaboration with two of the industry leading manufactures, the fire detection & alarm and aspirating smoke detection will provide early fire warning to the Cathedral management.
By installing state of the art technologies, within both the fire detection & alarm and early warning aspirating smoke detection, staff can speedily manage their fire strategy throughout this large building.
To accompany the detection systems, we have also installed an integrated Alarm Management System, so staff can be 'on-top' of any fire or fault activation, with notifications sent to mobile devices and/or desktops.
